Petroleum sludge is known to be very difficult to treat, therefore, such sludge is normally left untreated. Is your technology able to treat and recycle this type of sludge?
It is reported that large amounts of petroleum sludge produced at North Sea oil fields and Saudi Arabia’s oil fields are abandoned without treatment. We have conducted sludge treatment tests at a number of petroleum companies, oil and gas farms, as well as solidification treatments of soil polluted by oil leaks from pipeline breakage.
Generally, refined petroleum sludge settled at the bottom of a reservoir tank is likely to be solidified more easily. On the other hand, sludge produced from oil drilling process is said to be difficult to treat, but with our method it is also treatable. In the future, we would also like to work on a test case in the North Sea oil fields where we can try sludge solidification which can be put back into the sea a half hour after the application to test if the sludge can finish solidifying feasibly down on the sea bed.
Once the sludge becomes solid, transporting such product is possible, so we can recycle it for fuel, although fuel effectiveness is not yet known.
